Excitatory Chemicals
Excitatory neurotransmitters speed up the transmission of energy from one nerve to another. They are “gas pedals” that speed up brain function and problem solving skills, when balanced; but can lead to paranoia and psychosis when severely unbalanced. Dopamine and norepinephrine are excitatory brain chemicals. Depending on the presence and quantity of other neurotransmitters, acetylcholine can contribute to excitation as well.
