Inherited Imbalances
| |
An inherited chemical imbalance is one that is passed down from one generation to the next. Family systems with histories of compulsive disorders, addictions, depression, and/or anxiety disorders often pass on inherited chemical imbalances. Correcting or compensating for these types of imbalances requires a focus on brain chemicals. |

Inhibitory Chemicals
| |
Inhibitory neurotransmitters slow down or weaken the transmission of energy from one nerve to another. They are “brake pedals” responsible for smooth muscle coordination, confidence, and the ability to concentrate when balanced; but can lead to depression and an inability to think clearly when unbalanced. The only pure inhibitory chemical is GABA but depending on the presence and quantity of other neurotransmitters, acetylcholine and serotonin can be inhibitory as well. |
