Participant
  A participant is anyone who requests a BCOP or BMSC plan for their personal wellness.

Peripheral Signs/Symptoms
  Peripheral signs and symptoms are behaviors, moods and physical symptoms that are external and measurable. Research indicates that measuring signs and symptoms on a peripheral level reflects central levels (brain levels) of neurotransmitters.

Phenylalanine
  Phenylalanine is an amino acid that converts to dopamine in the brain. Raising dopamine levels can lead to increased anxiety in certain individuals.

Physiological Reward
  This is a behavior that is often performed automatically that results in a chemical alteration in the brain that restores the chemical balance the brain sees as “normal”.

Psychiatric Patient
  A psychiatric patient is anyone diagnosed with a psychiatric thought disorder. BCOP and BMSC plans are not recommended for persons with these types of disorders.

Psychological Reward
  A psychological reward is any reward that makes a person’s life better in a tangible way.
