Serotonin is a “mixed” brain chemical responsible for creating feelings of well-being, personal security, relaxation, and deep and restful sleep. It significantly affects perceptions and is believed to play a role in pain management. All balanced emotional conditions are associated with normal or high serotonin levels, while insecurity, anger, fear, paranoia, depression and even suicide are associated with low levels of serotonin. Serotonin levels can be affected by various things such as tryptophan levels, complex carbohydrates and consistent exercise, depending on the individual. |
